MY STORY
Our future is deeply engraved in the sustainability of our heritage and our present.

My first face to face confrontation with heritage, its linkage and impact was because of the stampede that happened in 2003 at the Kumbhakshetra, in Nasik, Maharashtra, India. 39 people, including 28 women were killed in the stampede and more than hundred injured (57 seriously injured).

This event made me seriously contemplate about Disaster Management planning for historic sacred places. My graduation thesis was concentrated on creating a separate catchment area for the devotees during the Kumbha Mela event. While researching for the appropriate site for my design, I realized the importance of the intangible heritage, the historic temples, historic lanes of the Nasik downtown and its linkage to traditional mass events which have continued for years.

This is where, the seeds for Historic Preservation got deeply rooted in my subconscious mind and I completed my Masters in Architectural Conservation with distinction and gold medal. My Masters thesis concentrated on the rejuvenation of the Historic Ghats of Nasik.

My proposal was selected by the Maharashtra state government and I then worked with DRONAH, to make a heritage management plan for the historic city of Nasik under the JnNurm scheme.
